What we do for fun: RAP

This week for childcare we're talking about music. One of our books happened to included a CD with a rap song, but without the rap lyrics. It suggested you could turn anything into a rap song. So we tried it (pictured are Liam, Claire, Lorelai, and Jane):

Yes, I may spend my day with 2-year-olds, but we STILL know how to have a GOOD TIME! ;)

What we do for fun: DANCE

What do we do for fun? Here's one of our favorites. This is a video of Lorelai dancing while Claire (childcare) and Jane look on in awe. Jane eventually joins in with a small side-to-side sway.

Trauma at the Waterpark

We are frequent WI Dells waterpark attendees. While we normally find it relaxing, our experience today was unsettling. Two hours in, we witnessed a woman who drowned in Poseidon's Rage. The lifeguards pulled her out very close to where we were ALL sitting. Our kids watched them perform CPR for quite a while, and thankfully they finally revived her. It still made us feel nauseated to think how close she had come to death. THEN, just as we were starting to forget that trauma, dark storm clouds began to roll in, the lifeguards ordered everyone out of the water, and we literally had only moved 20 feet when hail dropped on everyone - some of it golf-ball sized. We ran into a woman's bathroom with Jane in hysterics, children sobbing all around and everyone with huge welts all over their bodies. Mystery Man had blood running down his forehead. Fun times. We then had to run through the rain to the indoor waterpark. There we saw lots of people outside the first aid station with ice packs. Almost everyone in there had bandaids. An ambulance arrived to help a woman who had been knocked unconscious. While they were helping her, another woman had a grand mal seizure, just 20 feet away, so the paramedics split into two groups. We witnessed all of it. Yucky. Needless to say, we left early. I agree with Azael, who said, "It's good to be home. I just feel safer in the walls of my own home."

OK - The Hysterics Are HERE

Lorelai also performed at the Let's Play Music Recital (see previous post). She was a bit...um... BOUNCY (for the entire 45-minute concert). What can I say? Our kids have a little more energy than other children. Lorelai clearly has no stage fright. Before the concert, Lorelai handed us a piece of paper that says, "Go Lorelai" and she asked us to hold it up after each song. Mystery Man did, and you'll see Lorelai kind of jumping and pumping her arm in the air at the end of several songs. That is in response to the sign MM was holding. You can see it all here in the video:

Music Recital and My Hysterics

Lorelai and Silas just had their Let's Play Music recital last night. Silas just finished his 3rd year and composed his own song, complete with lyrics. It goes like this:

Born in 1942
got my head stuck in a shoe.
My friends all laughed, what could I do?
I learned to live with my head in a shoe.

Aliens came flying by,
landed near my apple pie.
One saw me with a shoe on my head.
He took it off and now we're friends.

The next day he wasn't my friend.
He had met some other people.
I was angry so I said:
GO BACK HOME TO YOUR PLANET! YOU ARE NOT MY FRIEND!

So the Alien went home.
I was very happy.
I never saw that guy again.
I went inside to eat apple pie.

You can watch the video here (Silas' music teacher, Ms. Gina, is singing along with him. Also, you'll see Lorelai made a little sign to hold up that says "GO SILAS!"):
