Nurture yourself

This is EXACTLY what I need to do right now. How about you?

“My appeal is that you nurture your own physical and spiritual strength so that you have a deep reservoir of faith to call upon when tasks or challenges or demands of one kind or another come. Pray a little more, study a little more, shut out the noise and shut down the clamor, enjoy nature, call down personal revelation, search your soul, and search the heavens for the testimony that led our pioneer parents. Then, when you need to reach down inside a little deeper and a little farther to face life and do your work, you will be sure there is something down there to call upon.” – Jeffrey R. Holland

A Summer Wedding

My brother Josh was married to the lovely Erica this past weekend. They had the wedding in their back yard. It was a beautiful wedding!

The dapper Joshua Wayne standing under the magnolia tree, waiting patiently for his bride.

Erica and Josh were married by Erica's uncle. He used very personal analogies, such as the fact that Erica and Josh love to blend the past with the present. (Case in point: Erica is wearing vintage earrings from an estate sale and Josh has on the fedora with a sweet peacock feather. So classy!)

The bride and groom after the ceremony.

My Mom and Dad greeting our kids in the reception line.

Josh and Erica speak with my grandma. Check out that sweet hat she's wearing!

We call her "Double G" which stands for Great Grandma. She is beautiful!

Lorelai and Jane

Our attempt at a family photo was thwarted by some unruly boys...

Look at those expressions! Thanks guys...

Later, at the reception... Josh and Erica had a LIVE bluegrass band. Totally sweet! We had a blast! Our kids were the first ones on the dancefloor after the bride and groom had their official dance. (Lorelai and Ephraim are pictured here).

Lorelai didn't leave the dance floor all night. In fact, she started asking random strangers to dance with her. In this photo she had just pulled this guy onto the dance floor and thankfully he obliged her and did his best jig.

Ephraim & Silas had some sweet moves, too!

It was a superb wedding weekend! Congratulations Josh & Erica!

Look alikes...

Silas just had a haircut and had is shaved very short. It's funny how similar he and Jane are now...

Summer Fun

Summer is here and we are loving it! Here we are roasting hot dogs & making s'mores in the backyard.

A note: Jane's impetigo is all better! Hooray for antibiotics.

Fun in the baby pool...

I'm happy to report the mosquitoes aren't a problem this year. I am so relieved. Knock on wood.

A Glimpse of Jane as a Teenager

We recently had a glimpse of what Jane "could" look like as a teenager when Jane had impetigo. (Note, fellow moms, this is what it looks like. I certainly had never seen it before!)
Let's hope Jane is a bit more cheerful as a teenager. :)
